Cologne bassist and composer Stefan Schönegg seems drawn to sound without end, a vibrating mass that crawls like a glacier toward the infinite. He’s used the moniker Enso for five recordings now, and although each album has featured a shifting group of collaborators, his vision has persisted without distraction. Enso: Strings & Percussion, which was recorded following a performance with the same ensemble as part of Cologne Jazzweek in September of 2021, introduces a new constellation of players, and to my ears it masterfully reduces and concentrates the composer’s ideal to its purest, most elegant manifestation yet. Each sidelong piece is marked by a delicate flow of sound where various strains of friction undulate and glow, richly marbled slabs of resonance that fill the listening space with a meditative profundity. BRAD HENKEL, famed investor-turned-improviser, hails from the same state as the renowned Silicon Valley. His avant-garde trumpet playing has saved many a business, including an exclusive European sportscar importer with some outrageous prices as well as a well-know media conglomerate.
The group's oil connections are brought by bass player and bass vocalist DAN PETER SUNDLAND, who, after his Norwegian oil wells dried up, sought refuge in diversifying his portfolio internationally. A well-known innovator on his instrument, his investments are seen as a clear sign of a projects daring and merit.
FABIAN JUNG is a real estate magnate with deep political connections (he's currently on a political sabbatical). Always striving for the hard-earned buck, he has traded his more mainstream streams of revenue for ever more esoteric ways of achieving his goal of financial success.
His background in the Cologne improvising scene was only the beginning of his trajectory, and he is an entity to keep an eye on for future future's trading and other schemes.

share project Film+Konzert
Der Hauptfokus liegt auf Frei Improvisierter Musik und deren Grenzbereiche.
Langfristig ist das Ziel, die Konditionen der ausführenden Musiker*innen zu verbessern, sowie ihre Mobilität und Reichweite zu vergrößern.
Seit 2 Jahren existiert die erste Version von SHARE-Improvisers without Borders, die durch Förderung des Europe Creative Programm der EU und der Arbeit zahlreicher Musiker*innen und Kurator*innen bereits 15 Veranstaltungen in europäischen Standorten entstehen ließ.
Die Film-Präsentation des share project soll Einblicke in diese Arbeit und Prozesse, sowie Eindrücke der Veranstaltungen geben. Anschließend wird es eine offene Diskussionsrunde geben, in der 3 Vertreter*innen der Initiative über Details sprechen und Fragen beantworten können.

Is there a music that can be understood in any culture on this planet?
Is it possible to co-compose a music from basic elements which are valid
in most musical cultures?
What are such basic elements?
Do fundamental musical particles even exist and what could they be?
Driven by such questions, Metaculture created an improvised music that builds upon basic musical elements and on the individual musical histories of the ensemble members. The ensemble spirit is fed by a common interest in all kinds of music, in listening thoroughly and in improvising “freely”, without relying on structuring concepts. The process of this collaboration was accompanied by discussions and by listening together to world or improvised music, with the aim to be inspired to break out of the usual improvisational routine. The music is put together mostly out of simple elements and the improvising built on the musicians listening. With such conditions the sextet’s playing felt natural from our first encounter.
